NYS Armed Guard Curriculum Updates

**EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS**
IF YOU COME TO THE RANGE WITHOUT THESE REQUIRED ITEMS, YOU WILL BE SENT HOME
  • Ear AND Eye Protection
  • Level 2 Retention Holder
  • Belt
  • Magazine Holder
  • Any type of “baseball” style hat
  • Minimum 300 rounds of ammunition
Curriculum Updates
The New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services (NYS DCJS) has changed the curriculum requirements for 8-hour annual firearms re-certification.

ALL Armed Guards, These are the new requirements to be completed for this years re-qualification per NYS DCJS:

  1. Review NYS Article 35 (3 hours)
  2. Written Article 35 Exam (1.0 hours)
  3. Review Rifle and Shotgun Safety (1.0 hours)
  4. NYS Firearms Qualification – 100 rounds (3 hours)
  5. Shoot a Rifle/Shotgun ONLY if required by employer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REMEMBER: it is one or the other (rifle OR shotgun) and 12 rounds of one type ONLY if required by your employer.
